Alien in Connecticut arrested for sexual assault, will be turned over to ICE
WFSB, a CBS-affiliated television station based in Hartford, Connecticut, reports that a man called Daniel Rodas was arrested on Tuesday by police in Meriden, Connecticut.
He was picked up on an active warrant and charged with second-degree sexual assault, two counts of risk of injury, and two counts of interfering with police.
WFSB adds that Meriden police are working with Homeland Security Investigations, the investigative component of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and that ICE has placed an immigration detainer on Rodas. That means that ICE wants to seize him the moment he is released from custody, in order to deport him.
Any person who is in the U.S. on a nonimmigrant visa or is even a legal permanent resident (a green card holder), who is convicted of a serious crime, becomes “deportable“.
Since no mention was made of Daniel Rodas having been convicted of any crime, and since ICE has issued a detainer on him, it's inferred that he is an alien who is in the United States illegally, i.e. that he is an illegal alien.
